1. Introduction

Defend Your Castle is a game in which you must defend a castle from waves of invaders. When an invader reaches the castle, he does damage to it, and you must make sure your castle does not lose all its hitpoints, or else you lose. You may purchase from a shop after every level to help your defense, and the longer you survive, the more points you get.

2. Installation

Simply send the files "CASTLES.83p" and "Pic4.8xi" to your TI-83+ calculator. I recommend using software such as TI-Connect to send the files. Once the files are on your calculator, go to the "PRGM" menu and run "CASTLES." You can also run the game from MirageOS if you have it. Enjoy!

3. Gameplay

The gameplay is not too complicated, and you should get used to it fairly quickly.

- Controls
	- On The Playing Field
		- Number keys - press to fire a missile at the corresponding square on the field. Note that the missile will not fire immediately; keep this in mind when trying to hit an invader. To make the game more challenging (and because of the limitations of TI-BASIC) you only can fire one missile at a time.
		- 2nd - invokes a weak spell, if you have any.
		- Alpha - invokes a mega spell, if you have one.
		- Enter - pauses the game. Press enter again to unpause.
		- Mode/Del - WARNING: these keys automatically lose the game. They can be used either as teacher keys, or as a way to safely quit the game. While ON will quit the game as well, it is not recommended.

	- Shop
		- Number keys - press to buy the corresponding item.
		- Clear - used to exit shop.

	- Level Clear/Level Advance Screens
		- Enter to continue.

- Invaders
There are four kinds of invaders (the original three, plus a new monster invader). They are, in order of strength,

	- The normal invader -these guys look like small 'x's and take only one hit to kill.
	- The rammers -a rammer is an 'x' holding a ram. Slightly stronger than the standard invader, they take two hits to kill.
	- The large invader -characterized by a large 'X,' it will take three hits to bring this guy down.
	- The monster -giant 'M's that need a whopping four hits before they fall.

When an invader is hit, he degrades to the next lowest strength. A rammer therefore becomes a normal invader, etc. Hitting an invader will give you points and money, whether you kill him or not. An invader dies once he hits your castle.

- Shop
You are given the option to purchase from a shop after every level. Here are all possible purchases that can be made at the shop:

	- +50 HP (hitpoints) - buy this to repair your castle, or even just to give it some extra HP.
	- Archer - an archer, once bought, will automatically kill random invaders. It will completely kill the invader, whether it be normal or a monster. However, it charges 5 gold for each successful kill. Expensive early on, they are very useful later in the game. Note that killed invaders do not add to your score or money. Only one may be bought.
	- Carpenter - the carpenter will automatically add 20 to your castle's hitpoints at a cost of 5 gold. Only one may be bought.
	- Weak Spell - this spell hits two squares at random, completely killing any invader it hits. Note that it may hit an empty square or it may hit the same square twice - use it wisely. Invoke it by pressing the 2nd button.
	- Mega Spell - this spell sweeps over the playing field, completely wiping out every invader in its way. More powerful than the weak spell, but also more expensive, it can be invoked with the Alpha button.

Note that invaders killed by a spell do not add to your score or money.
